When in Rome

Michelangelo's Castor and his horse help guard the entrance to the Campidoglio in Rome. Mirrored by twin brother Pollux (off camera), they stand at opposite sides of the grand stairway.

The Welcome Committee

This display of white lillies and oher plants adorned the entrance foyer of the Filoli mansion the day I visited. Filoli uses flowers from their extensive gardens to create beautiful floral displays which match the season. A texture by boccacino has been added.

Medieval Catapult

This catapult is one of several siege machines from the Middle Ages that are on display at Les Baux de Provence. Les Baux is a wonderful place to visit and explore. You can climb atop the ruined fortress and survey the countryside, pretending that you have traveled back hundreds of years.  I've added a texture from Shadowhouse Creations.

Cotswolds Scene

This scene was captured while driving through the Cotswolds of England, but I don't recall the precise location. I've added a texture from Christopoulos.

Lake View

This is the view from my cousin's back yard near Hawthorne, Florida. I added textures from Ellenvd and Shadowhouse Creations.

Cemetery Lane

This photo shows one of the Spanish moss covered paths through the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. A couple of textures from Shadowhouse Creations help to create a spooky mood.

Old House, Monterey

This photo shows an old stucco house in Monterey, California with a texture from boccacino added.

Lei on Lava Rock

After arriving on Oahu and after checking into our hotel, we ran out to the beach to watch the sunset. Someone had placed this lei on one of the lava rocks near our hotel earlier in the day and it added a bright spot of color in the fading light. Textures from Shadowhouse Creations were added.

Sailing Past St. Lawrence Fortress

This photo shows a small boat sailing past Fort Lovrijenac, also known as St. Lawrence Fortress, just outside the western wall of Dubrovnik. The fort was built in the 11th century to prevent theVenetians from gaining power.  I've added textures rom boccacino and leeber.

Savannah Riverfront

This photo was taken across the Savannah River from the Historic District. The dome of the Georgia State Capitol building was originally covered in tin at its completion in 1889, and later gilded with gold leaf in 1958.

Kensington Palace Gardens

Kensington Palace in London has been used by the British Royal Family since the 17th century and was the official residence of Princess Diana for the last 16 years of her life. This photo shows the palace gardens in May. Textures added are from Shadowhouse Creations.

Angel with Star

This photo of an angel statue draped in Spanish moss was taken in Savannah's Bonaventure Cemetery. It was cold and dreary as we walked among the graves, but there was something very peaceful and comforting about this statue for me. Two textures from Shadowhouse Creations were added.

Monaco Harbor

Looking down to the harbor from the pedestrian stairs that lead to the highest point of Monaco, known as The Rock. I've added textures from Shadowhouse Creations.

Sorrento Shop

This young woman was standing in the doorway of a wonderful shop featuring all kinds of pasta, limoncello, olive oil and other gourmet items that help to make this part of Italy such a treat. I've added textures from jinterwas, Shadowhouse Creations and freaky 665.

Oahu Beach Park

Looking out to Rabbit Island and Makapuu from the southeast shore of Oahu. I've added textures from joes sistah and borealnz.

Long Neck

This photo was taken at The Brass Armadillo Antiques Mall in Phoenix, a fun place to spend some time, and money. I was curious about this extremely long-necked mannequin. I've added textures from Shadowhouse Creations and iBrigs.

The Views of Kew

This photo was taken during my visit to Kew Royal Botanic Gardens in London. On the left is Temperate House, the largest surviving Victorian glass structure in the world, and to the right is the Chinese Pagoda, built much earlier in 1762. I've added two textures from rubyblossom.

Quiet Canal Scene

Some parts of Bruges seem timeless. This is especially true along some of the canals where you can imagine yourself in a past era. I've added one of my favorite textures from Shadowhouse Creations called Cosmic Bang.

Shades of Monaco

Fontvieille is the newest of the traditional four districts of Monaco. This photo was taken from the Exotic Gardens, high on a rocky cliff above the Mediterranean Sea. I've added two textures from boccacino.

Hanging Out on the Canal St. Martin

The Canal St. Martin is a very happening area of Paris. Tourists, students and local residents all enjoy hanging out on its banks or in the many bars and restaurants in the surrounding streets.

Enjoying a balmy afternoon from her charming balcony, this young woman was oblivious to the commotion in the street below her. Added textures are from Paree Erica and Kerstin Frank Art.

Devil's Bridge

While I'm on the topic, why not post about this natural bridge in Sedona that offers wonderful views from atop its summit? Sure, it's a somewhat strenuous hike to reach the top, but it's so worth it, as this family would agree. The texture I've added is from les brumes.

To Hell and Back

It's not every day that you find a restaurant named "To Hell" or one that dates back to the 900s. This medieval tavern is located in the oldest house in Rothenburg and travel partner and I sampled their tasty fare during our visit.

The texture I've used was created by Nasos 3.

This brightly colored Italianate building is part of the courtyard of the Hotel Bellevue in Split,Croatia. I've added textures from Shadowhouse Creations and Paree Erica.
