The weathered facade of a building near our hotel in Venice. At first glance it would seem to be an abandoned building, except for the flowers in pots on the old balcony.

Juliet's Balcony

The famous Juliet's balcony in Verona, Italy was actually built around 1936 and therefore has nothing to do with the Shakespearean herione. Still, it is a must-see sight on many tours and for many romantic tourists visiting beautiful Verona.

Tropical Courtyard

I photographed this lush tropical courtyard in Taormina on Sicily. The hand painted ceramic planters resembling faces are very common in Sicily and are modern versions of those seen in many museums.  Like this one, they are often placed on balconies
