Golden Ladies

This image ties into another one - the photo in my post of June 5, 2012. This structure was located just outside the Cine Comedia in the Eixample area of Barcelona.

Ornate

The intricately beautiful details sgraffiti on the facade of  one of the three most important buildings in Barcelona's "Block of Discord." Casa Amatler was designed in the Modernisme style for the chocolate magnate Antoni Amatler and built around 1900.

Barcelona Theater

This building at the corner of Passeig de Gracia is home to the Cinema Comedia. I believe the building functioned as a palace at one time. Barcelona has some amazing architecture, no doubt about it. This intricate carving adorns one of the buildings in the Eixample district.

Cracking Up

This image began with my photo of one of the unusual sculpted structures atop Casa Mila, an incredible apartment building designed by the famous Spanish architect, Antonio Gaudi. These intriguing structures functioned as air ducts and chimneys and they have come to be known as "witch scarers."

I've added a crackle texture to the sky to lend it a surreal look.

Ornate Lamp Post

This image was taken along the Passeig de Gracia in Barcelona. The avenue is a popular shopping district in the Eixample section and contains many of Barcelona's finest examples of architecture. Some of the most notable buildings were designed by famous modernista architects, including Antoni Gaudi.

I've added one of my own textures, created from a photo of a rust pattern on the wheelbarrow in our back yard.
