Bridges on the Arno

A view of the famous Ponte Vecchio and several other Florentine bridges spanning the Arno, as seen from the Vasari Corridor of the Uffizi. This 1 kilometer long "secret passage" was commissioned by the Medici family to connect the Uffizi with the Pitti Palace.

Eleven

While walking through Florence near the Ponte Vecchio, I passed this lovely vine covered door which led to the equally lovely patio, home to several pampered looking cats. I wished that I could trade places with them!

This giant head sculpture by Igor Mitoraj in Boboli Gardens, Florence is titled Tindaro Screpolato which means Tyndareus shattered. Tyndareus was a Spartan king.

I've added a gold texture by batabidd.

Boboli Gardens

The first time I visited Florence, I followed the crowds and visited many of the famous, must-see sights. On my second visit, I spent the better part of a day in the Boboli Gardens, relishing the peace and quiet of these 16th century gardens built for the wife of Cosimo de Medici. There are plenty of private corners and wonderful views overlooking Florence and its distinctive Duomo.

From the Ponte Vecchio

Standing on the Ponte Vecchio overlooking the Arno River on a beautiful September day, I shot this scene on my first trip to Florence.

The large expanse of sky seemed to lend itself to the addition of a texture made from a photo of a stucco wall.
