Naples x 2

Touring Tuscany, I met a couple who hailed from Naples, Florida and had nothing but good things to say about the town. So the last time I visited Florida, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I arrived in Naples in the early evening and after checking into my hotel I had just enough time to drive to the beach before the sun set. I took several photos of this pier which was silhouetted against the rosy glow of the sky. I've added a texture reminiscent of the luminescence in the waves as they rolled onto the shore.

This photo of Naples, Italy was taken just after dawn as our cruise ship was sailing into Naples Bay. I opted to use a color filter and layer adjustments to give it a pale, muted effect.

We took the Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii and had an amazing taxi ride back from the station to the ship. After I spoke a few words to him in Italian, the taxi driver, an older, very dignified man, played a CD of opera music for us while navigating the congested streets with poise and mastery, as the crazy traffic all around us honked and jockeyed for every inch of available space.
