Dungeon Door
Okay, so I've been getting an early start on Halloween by watching a few scary movies, and it led to this image based on the photo I took of an old door and stone walls at the Gravenstein Castle in Ghent.

Gateway to Bruges
This is actually a composite of two of my Belgium photos. The wooden doorway is actually a part of the Ghent castle property and the view through the doorway is a street near the train station in Bruges. I added a texture for which I have no source, unfortunately, as well as several adjustment layers in Photoshop CS3.

Timeless Ghent
Ghent is a beautiful university city with a rich history and far less touristed than Bruges or Brussels.

Gravensteen Castle
Travel Partner and I visited Ghent on a very inclement spring day. Somehow the weather suited this castle, built in 1180 and modeled on the castles of the Crusaders. It was the seat of the Counts of Flanders for several centuries until it was used for other purposes until its restoration around 1885.

Guild House of the Free Boatmen
This beautiful Ghent guild hall has a sandstone facade which dates from 1531 and has many carvings of sailors and sailing ships. It is located on the Graslei, one of the canal side streets that lined the old Medieval port.

View from Ghent Belfry Tower
This is the view from the belfry tower in Ghent, Belgium. It dates from the 1300s and is considered one of the finest examples of such a structure in Flanders. At one time four soldiers stood guard atop the tower. Although it rained the entire day we visited Ghent, I enjoyed this beautiful city and I would love to return again.
I've added textures from Shadowhouse Creations - Square 92 and Square 116.
