On the Wall

A visitor walks along the ancient wall of Monteriggioni, a small fortified town in Tuscany. The wall and towers are still virtually intact after being erected by the Sienese in the early 1200s.

Tuscan Archway

While walking through the valley below Monteriggioni, we stopped for a quick break and I explored a few of the nearby buildings while others lined up to buy fresh fruit from a local farmer's cart.

Monteriggioni

This is a view of the walled medieval town taken from a walking path through the Val d'Elsa in Tuscany. There are fourteen towers built into the wall and you can walk along portions of it for wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The town itself is very pleasant to wander.

I've added textures from Shadowhouse Creations and an old Italian postcard.
