Rising above the Plateau de Vaucluse, and not far from Avignon, Gordes is one of the better known hilltowns in Provence. It attracts artists, the film crowd and other creatives types, as well as its share of tourists in the summer months.

Gordes is a hilltown in the Vaucluse area of southeastern France. We were driving along this road and happened to come around the corner and - voila! - there it was. Travel Partner pulled over to the side of the road so that I could take this photo.
